The Perfect Job for You - 10 Websites with Job Agents
More and more job seekers are relying on online sites to find jobs. Online sites are useful in finding companies and job descriptions that match your criteria but people still find jobs by networking with people. While my list this month will help you to use online sites, a hiring manager will be much more receptive to a person if a colleague or friend within the company recommends the person. Do not rely just on online or email applications.
That said a good place to start is by defining what you are looking for in your next job. Even if you are not actively looking for a job, it is worth reading job descriptions to learn what will be available to you once you are serious about looking. There is always a possibility that something really exciting will show up.
Some websites allow you to put in your own criteria for a job and then will notify you when a job matching your criteria is listed. These websites have job agents to alert you. Most of the time you set the criteria for one search and you can see what is currently available. Then you leave the criteria and your email address, the site will send you an email when a new position with your criteria opens up.
Of the websites with job agents some will be general sites with a variety of jobs listed. Others are specific to a particular company. If you have several companies you are targeting then you can see if their online job search listings have an agent available. Try a variety of sites. In fact if you are actively looking for a job you probably want to try many. Below you will find a list of 10 sites with job agents. Most are general but two are for specific companies and two are for specific careers. Indeed.com and SimplyHired.com search other job sites on the web rather than searching jobs listed on their site.
